As a manager, you will take a 10% cut of all fighter earnings, both from fighter contracts (and bonuses), as well as from their sponsors. If you are a basic user, this will be your only way to build up income within the game.
The only exception is QFC fights. Fighters take the full fighter pay and win bonus for these fights.
